NHS North West London is preparing to make tirzepatide (brand name Mounjaro®) available as part of specialist weight management services.
Tirzepatide is a once-weekly injection that helps to reduce appetite, support weight loss, and improve health outcomes for people living with obesity and related conditions.
Please note:
- Tirzepatide will only be prescribed through NHS specialist weight management services and not directly from your GP.
- It will be offered alongside a full programme of support, including advice on diet, physical activity, and lifestyle changes.
- Eligibility will follow national NHS guidance and will usually apply to adults with obesity who also have a weight-related health condition (such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnoea).
Further details, including who will be eligible and how to access the programme, will be confirmed by NHS England and North West London ICB in the next few months. Once this criteria has been published your GP will be in touch regarding the next steps. Please do not contact your GP as we are unable to prescribe Tirzepatide at this time.
