Routine Childhood Immunisations

Vaccinations are the safest and most effective way to protect your child against serious diseases. The NHS offers a free routine immunisation schedule for all babies, children, and young people.

From 1 July 2025, babies born on or after 1 July 2024 will follow the new national immunisation schedule.


When will my child be vaccinated?

At 8 weeks old

  • 6-in-1 vaccine (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, Hib, hepatitis B)
  • Meningitis B (MenB)
  • Rotavirus (oral drops)

At 12 weeks old

  • 6-in-1 vaccine (second dose)
  • Pneumococcal (PCV)
  • Rotavirus (oral drops, second dose)

At 16 weeks old

  • 6-in-1 vaccine (third dose)
  • Meningitis B (second dose)

At 1 year (on or after 1st birthday)

  • Hib/MenC (combined booster)
  • Pneumococcal booster (PCV)
  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella – first dose)
  • Meningitis B booster

At 3 years 4 months (pre-school age)

  • 4-in-1 pre-school booster (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio)
  • MMR (second dose)

At 12–13 years

  • HPV vaccine (protects against cancers and genital warts)

At 14 years (school year 9)

  • 3-in-1 teenage booster (tetanus, diphtheria, polio)
  • Meningitis ACWY vaccine

Annual & adult vaccines

  • Flu vaccine: offered every year to eligible children and adults from September.
  • Shingles: from age 65 (with extended eligibility for some groups).
  • Pneumococcal & RSV: for older adults at specified ages.

Booking vaccinations

Our nursing team provides all routine childhood immunisations at the practice.

  • Appointments are usually sent automatically by the NHS, but you can also book directly with us.
  • If you think your child has missed a vaccine, please contact the practice – we can arrange a catch-up schedule.
